REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto officially launched Danantara Indonesia or Daya Anagata Nusantara. Prabowo said Danantara would be an instrument for managing the country's wealth.

“Make no mistake, this is not just an investment fund. It is an instrument of national development that will change the way we manage the wealth of the nation,” Prabowo Subianto said in a speech on Monday (24/2/2025).

With total assets of more than 900 billion US dollars, Danantara Indonesia will play a role in funding more than 20 national strategic projects. Some of the priority sectors that will receive investment include downstream nickel, bauxite, copper, construction of artificial intelligence data centers, petrochemicals, renewable energy, and food and protein production.

Prabowo confirmed Danantara to be one of the largest sovereign wealth funds in the world. Through this role, SOEs will be more competitive on a global level.

“Our SOEs must operate to the highest standards, have the best governance, and develop innovation, transparency, and technological progress,” Prabowo said.

He added that one of the government's long-term goals is to encourage more state-owned enterprises into the Fortune 500 list, as proof that Indonesia is not only a regional player, but also capable of becoming a pioneer and leader on the world economic scene.

“We want to see more Indonesian SOEs included in the Fortune 500 list. We want to prove that Indonesia is not just a follower, but can be a leader in the global economy,” he said.
