REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Government has allocated Rp 30 trillion for holding Asian Games 2018. As much as Rp 25 trillion would be spent to build the infrastructure and the renovation of some sport arena in Jakarta, Palembang, Bandung and Banten. Vice President Jusuf Kalla explained that after a meeting on Wednesday.

Kalla added the government also speeded up the development of light rail transit (LRT) in Jakarta and Palembang to support the event. He assured that the budget should be appropriate to the government’s availability and feasibility.

Kalla insisted that the fund did not only come from the national budget. There were also many sponsors, promotions and advertisements. He predicted there would be Rp 2-2.5 trillion of income from the tickets. However, the government had not been able to calculate the total fund to collect from sponsorships.

He said budget efficiency was the basic principle of Asian Games and Olympiad, so the events would easily get the organizers. It also gave a wider opportunity for many countries to be the operator

However, the government was committed to meet the standard of Olympiad Council of Asia (OCA). “We met the standards but not to be glamorous. The most important thing was to make achievements,” said Jusuf Kalla.
