REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesia's 13th Vice President Ma'ruf Amin called on scholars in Indonesia to maintain unity so that together they can help realize a prosperous Indonesia.
“Do not allow scholars to divorce because they are different or because of the ordinariness that each of them has no connection, no connectivity,” Kiai Ma'ruf said when he met after attending the National Silaturahmi of Islamic mass organizations and gathering Assembly of Indonesian Ulemas in Jakarta on Thursday.
He then said that basically every scholar has a difficult task that cannot be done alone, namely to create a society that is prosperous in birth and in spirit. “The cleric has the responsibility to realize the life of the people who are inner-born prosperous, from the world to the afterlife,” he said.
According to him, in carrying out this responsibility, clerics are in charge of advising or advising the government so that various policies or steps taken in advancing Indonesia go well.
Earlier, Kiai Ma'ruf has also said that the tausyiah or advice given by scholars to the government is a form of love for a more developed and prosperous Indonesia.
“Giving advice to loved ones. So when the scholar gives advice, gives tausyiah, then the tausyiah is to the loved one. Well, when it comes to the government, it means the assembly of clerics loves the government,” he said.
The Chairman of the MUI Consideration Board also said that the various teachings that scholars give to the government are for one purpose, namely so that the government can perform its duties well to realize the welfare of all Indonesians.
So far, according to him, the teachings given by scholars to the Indonesian Government have been implemented, but some have not been implemented. “I think something is accepted. Some have not been accepted,” he said.
