National Library to distribute books in 900 points

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SUKABUMI – The National Library to distribute books to 900 points in Indonesia in 2017. It would be distributed equally to all regions in Indonesia. "In line with the national priority program, the distribution of the books would be in 900 points,” said the Deputy for Library and Information Services of the National Library Ofy Sofiana to reporters in Sukabumi on Wednesday.

The distribution targeted many librabries in communities, penitentiaries, provincial or regional libraries, and boarding school libraries. There would also distribution of 100 unit of mobile libraries. A reading campaign would also be conducted in 100 points. 

Ofy said the book and car distribution aimed at increasing the reading interest among the society. She argued that the society did not have low reading interest. It was related to the books availability.  

Ofy said the increasing level of the reading interest started from the family. There should be a habits in educational units to implement 15 minutes reading before the class started.

The National Library had built and stimulated many provincial and regional libraries. Since 2014, it also developed libraries in villages. 

The program was conducted by using deconsentrated fund deposited to the provincial government. The provincial government embraced the districts/cities that was included in the distribution area. The existence of the libraries in villages were hoped to help the society to access books.
