Responding to SBY allegation on wiretapping, Jokowi: Ask Ahok's attorney

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said he has nothing to do with the fact that emerged at the religious blasphemy trial.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) reiterated the alleged wiretapping and other facts that emerged in the trial of case of religious blasphemy by Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) were the domain of the North Jakarta District Court. "That was the issue of the court. The attorney mentioned it and so did Pak (Mr) Ahok," he said after opening the Conference of Indonesian Rector Forum 2017 at Jakarta Convention Center on Thursday. 

According to Jokowi, he has nothing to do with fact of the trial. He asked the reporters to asked the question of alleged wiretapping to the party who revealed it. "Do not hand it over to me. Ask to those who said it," he remarked.

Previously, during the eight session of the religious blasphemy trial, Ahok's lawyer grilled KH Ma'ruf Amin as witness presented by the prosecutor. He accused Kiai Ma'ruf has received a phone call from chairman of Democrat Party who is also the former President, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY).

He also accused Kiai Ma'ruf as the Chairman of Indonesian Council of Ulama (MUI) issued the religious statement based upon SBY's request. SBY's son, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, is running for governor as candidate number 1 in the Jakarta gubernatorial election. Meanwhile, Ahok is trying to prolong his governorship.

At a press conference on Wednesday, SBY said he wanted to talk to Jokowi bluntly. He also asked the party who owned the evidence of his conversation with Kiai Ma''ruf to give it to him. "We will arrange the right moment if SBY has requested it," Jokowi said.
