REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG -- The West Java Police Chief, Insp Gen Anton Charliyan, stated that he was ready to be examined due to the FPI’s report. He argued that he had acted professionally and proportionately. "If I'm wrong, I do not need to be fired. I will resign, if I am wrong. For the sake of the nation," he said on Tuesday (January 17).

He also stated that he would remain being the advisory board of the Indonesian Grassroots Movement (GMBI), although he got many criticize. His presence in GMBI, he said, only as a advisor and not included in the organization structure.

According to Anton, his existence in NGO aimed at improving the behavior of its members. "My existence (in GMBI) did not violate the rules because I am not included in the structure, just as an advisor. It is not violated my profession and I have consulted to the top (my leader)," he told reporters after a meeting with a community leader in West Java, Solihin GP, on Tuesday (January 17).

Anton said, the presence of state officials in an organization has already commonplace. In fact, he said, he became a builder in many organizations. There were about 35 organizations he coached, such as volleyball, karate, shooting, and so forth.

"All officials have to be advisors. If they were pushed to resign, all officials who were being coaches must resign, mustn’t they? In political parties there are also many ministers who became advisors. If (the organizations) were not fostered, it would even deviate. I will be responsible even for the slightest," said the two-star general birth in Tasikmalaya, West Java.
