REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesia has decided to suspend military cooperation with Australia. President Joko Widodo said that there a principle matter behind the decision. "The problem was found at the operational level, but it was very principle," he said at Bidakara Hotel, Jakarta, Thursday.
The President did not explain what kind of violation did by Australian military. He simply said that he had asked the Minister of Defense Affairs Ryamizard Ryacudu and the Military Commander Gen. Gatot Nurmantyo to resolve it.
Previously, an Australian Defense Force reportedly insulting Pancasila. However, the Minister of Defense Affairs said that the suspension was not related to the case. "No, no. The person has been reprimanded, he has been punished, the Australian Military has reported it to me," he said.
