REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, KUPANG -- Tropical cyclone Yvette, which hit parts of East Nusa Tenggara, has started to weaken, according to El Tari Meteorology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) spokesperson Siti Nenot'ek. "Since last night, tropical cyclone Yvette has weakened into a Tropical Low Intensity, though it is expected to bounce back on Saturday morning," Nenot'ek remarked here on Friday.

According to her, Yvette is forecast to move toward the southeast and further away from Indonesia, including East Nusa Tenggara. Based on the results of the latest analysis, the indirect impact of the tropical cyclone for the Indonesian region is a strong wind in the southern part of East Java, Bali, West Nusa Tenggara, and East Nusa Tenggara.

In addition, ocean waves will reach a height of more than 2.5-4 meters in the waters south of East Java to Sumba Island; the southern parts of Bali Strait, Lombok Strait, Alas Strait, and the Savu Sea; and in the Java Sea, Bali Sea, and Sumbawa Sea. "But currently, the tropical cyclone has begun to weaken, so people do not need to worry about the impact it will have," she explained.
