REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesian Military Force (TNI) Commander General Gatot Nurmantyo revealed that the threat of Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) is increasing in Indonesia. The terrorist group from the Middle East was targeted the Southern Philippines to be the headquarters of the Southeast Asia Region. This area was close to Indonesia, especially Poso in Sulawesi and Tarakan in Kalimantan.

“The threat of ISIS movement in the Middle East region is getting closer to Indonesia, where the Southern Philippines was being targeted by ISIS as the headquarters of the Southeast Asian region,” said Gatot in a press release received by Republika.co.id, Thursday (8/12).

Southern Philippine was an area with a free weapon-possession. Therefore, it was targeted to be an ISIS headquarters. For getting money to buy weapons, the members of ISIS kidnapped people. Even some residents of Southern Philippines were indicated to be ISIS members, guessing from the number of hostages done in the sea territorial.

Gatot said these will be a serious problem for Indonesia. The closer they are, the easier they enter the Indonesian territorial. "High vigilance from all parties is needed to prevent them to enter Indonesian territorial from several areas that is easy to reach," said Gatot.
