TNI Chief says provocative news originated from U.S and Australia

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG -- TNI Chief Gatot Nurmantyo believed foreign parties were involved in spreading provocative news. He said the intelligent has detected the source of news. "The intelligence service has tracked the source and detected the parties who spread the news originated from Australia and the U.S. of America," he said.

Gatot stressed the provocative news did not came from Indonesia. He said there were parties who want to disunite the nation. Therefore, he would like to initiate "Nusantara Bersatu" movement. "On November 30, in all over the region, find a large courts, let's gather together with red and white headband," he said on Wednesday in front of participants of national defense seminar in Bandung, West Java.

According to Gatot, currently there were many demonstration in Indonesia. He thought it could disrupt the nation sovereignty. "The initiative to perform "Nusantara Bersatu" arise after I heard the false news on the beating of Habib Rizieq Syihab by TNI personnel last night," he said.

Habib Rizieq is the advisor of the National Movement to Guard the Indonesian Council of Ulama's Fatwa (GNPF MUI). The movement planned to have a peaceful rally on December 2. Many parties tried to sacked the plan as it feared to end up with attemptted coup by stowaway.

Gatot immediately ordered his soldier to confirm the news that spread through instant messenger application. They found it was a hoax. "I'm concerned due to the news originated from abroad and the news could disunite Indonesia," he remarked.

Gatot said the ulamas have given their support to "Nusantara Bersatu". They are willing to change their white turban with red and white headband. "It symbolize that Indonesian are unite to deter foreign intervention," he said.
