President appreciates Nahdlatul Ulama role for the country

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) hold a meeting with Nahdatul Ulama (NU) leader and officials. In 1,5 hours meeting, Jokowi expressed his gratitude for the ulamas. "NU has become the prime buffer of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, Pancasila and the diversity nor the unity of our nation," he said at the Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) central board office, Jl Kramat Raya, Central Jakarta, Monday.

Jokowi also thanked NU ulamas for delivering peaceful message during the November 4th rally. He said because of it, the people has given their aspirations in an orderly manner. Jokowi also stated the need of consolidation between government and Islamic organizations to keep the unity of the people. "I think we can cooperate in a lot of concrete things for our beloved nation," he said accompanied by Chairman of PBNU Said Aqil Siradj and Rais Aam PBNU Kiai Ma'ruf Amin.

Jokowi ensured NU will be involved in resolving the peoples problems in Indonesia. Wearing batik shirt and black turban, Jokowi arrived at NU headquarter at 03:30 pm and wore a batik shirt and a black turban. This was not his first visit.
