REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- A window cleaning lift crashed into the ground from 23rd floor Intiland Tower, Sudirman, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (10/26). The incident happened at 11.15 am.

Tanah Abang Police's criminal department Chief Commissioner Mustakim has confirmed it. "One died in the incident," said Mustakim.

The victim was Agus Heryadi (30). He worked as mechanic at the contractor company who did the reparation of the window cleaning lift. "He was testing it and when it reached 23rd floor, it fell," Mustakim said at the scene.

The window cleaning lift, aslo known as gondola, was broken and never been used since then. The contractor service has repaired it and scheduled to test it today. In the previous test at another building, the gondola able to support four people. "I wonder why it fell with just one person at the window cleaning lift,"  Corporate Communications Intiland, Prananda Herdiawan said.
