Saudi Arabia executes a prince over shooting dead his friend

Saudi Arabia government ensured law enforcement in the country by execute the royal family member over murder case. On January, Iranian held demonstration over death sentence for Shia cleric Nimr al-Nimr in Saudi.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, RIYADH -- A Saudi Arabia prince was executed over a murder that he commited three years ago. The Interior ministry of Saudi Arabia reported on Tuesday (18/10), Prince Turki bin Saud al-Kabir was executed in the capital, Riyadh. However the ministry did not explain any further about the method used to execute the royal family member.

According to the list from AFP, Prince Turki was the 134th convicts executed this year. He was found guilty over shooting dead his fellow friend during a group fight.

BBC correspondent in Saudi Arabia said the execution was quiet strange. It was very rare a members of the royal family got executed. In the other hand, the Ministry ensured that the government committed on security and justice in Saudi Arabia.

Al Arabiya reported the victim's family refused compensation on the victim's death. Their decision was leaving no choice for the perpetrator other than death sentence.

Prince Turki is not the first royal member that ever executed. Faisal bin Musaid al Saud who killed his uncle, King Faisal in 1975 also was executed.

Mostly, execution is set as a punishment for murder case and drug trafficking. Nevertheless, nearly 50 people have been executed due to terrorism, including Shia cleric Nimr al-Nimr.
