REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Some 100 women grouped in Women's Solidarity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI) staged a rally in front of the City Hall here on Friday to protest against Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok).
The ladies, dressed in pink, sang Indonesia's anthem, "Indonesia Raya" (Greater Indonesia), and said they condemn Ahok's move to seek a second tenure.
"Jakarta now needs a leader who is polite and can mingle with Jakarta's inhabitants without much ranting," Andi Rini Sukmawati, the leader of the Solidarity Action, stressed.
She added that Jakarta needs a governor who can be friendly with every resident, including women, children and the poor.
"Ahok's arrogance has been taken note of by the NKRI Women's Solidarity that has demanded that he step down. And we ask Jakarta's voters to be smart while choosing their leader in 2017," she stated, as quoted by Antara.
They call on all women in Jakarta to be aware of the issue and not to vote for Ahok in the next election for a regional head.
"We call on women to help supervise the Jakarta gubernatorial election until the process of vote counting is over. We do not want this leader who has no conscience, to be reelected again," she remarked.
Meanwhile, later in the afternoon, about a hundred people from the Forum RT/RW rallied in front of Jakarta City Hall. They reject the leadership of Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama who always accuse them not doing their job and only wanted to collect money from waste and security fund.
