REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - State electricity company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) is looking into the possibility of issuing global bonds worth USD 2 billion next year.

"The bonds will be issued early next year to allow us to make matured preparations," PLN President Director Sofyan Basir said at the State Enterprises Ministry here on Friday.

He said proceeds from the issuance of the dollar-denominated bonds will be used to meet part of the company's medium-term investment needs.

PLN will need Rp170 trillion to finance the development of power plants, transmission and distribution networks in the next five years.

The global bonds will be issued at a yield of 2.5-3 percent.

"Hopefully, the bonds will get good pricing and receive positive responses from the international market," he said.
