Three aircraft fail to land in Batam

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BATAM -- Three aircraft operated respectively by Garuda Indonesia, Batik Air, and Lion Air failed to land at the Hang Nadim International Airport in Batam on Wednesday due to bad weather and visibility reaching only 200 meters.

"Due to bad weather, the flights of Garuda and Batik Air from Jakarta and Lion Air from Denpasar failed to land at the Hang Nadim airport," airport's spokesman Suwarso remarked.

According to Suwarso, a Garuda Indonesia flight from Jakarta was scheduled to land at the Hang Nadim airport at 11 a.m. local time, followed by a Lion Air flight from Denpasar at 11:05 a.m. local time, and a Batik Air flight from Jakarta at 11:15 a.m. local time.

"After circling over Batam City for several times, a Garuda Indonesia flight was finally diverted to land in Tanjungpinang, and the flights of Lion Air and Batik Air were forced to land in Pekanbaru," Suwarso added.
