Indonesian Ambassador promotes ASEAN business potential in Copenhagen

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesia's Ambassador to Denmark, Muhammad Ibnu Said, who was a keynote speaker at a business forum in Copenhagen, Denmark, on Monday (June 27), emphasized the opportunities and challenges of doing business and investing in the ASEAN region.

Muhammad Ibnu Said was representing the ambassadors and representatives of ASEAN countries at the event to promote the business potential of ASEAN, a region that has a population of 622 million.

A press statement issued by the Indonesian Embassy in Copenhagen, and received by Antara here on Tuesday, said the ambassador emphasized ASEAN's achievements and Indonesia's trade potential.

The event, which brought together the ambassadors of the ASEAN member countries with Denmark?s businessmen, was organized by the Danish Industry within the framework of ASEAN Roadshow in Denmark.

At the forum, Ambassador Ibnu Said explained the achievements of ASEAN which applies a tariff harmonization system as well as standards, procedures and technical regulations to simplify all import-export processes.

He also explained the great potential that Indonesia has in trade and investment.

The Ambassador underlined Indonesia's efforts to support the implementation of the ASEAN Economy Community by implementing 12 economic policies packages that will facilitate investment and enhance the ease of doing business in the country.

Twenty entrepreneurs engaged in transportation, energy, food science and technology industries participated in the meeting.

The ASEAN Roadshow is part of the ASEAN Committee's activities in Copenhagen to promote ASEAN in Denmark.

ASEAN Committee in Copenhagen was formed in August 2014, and comprises the embassies of Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam in Denmark.

Meanwhile, the Confederation of Danish Industry is a business organization and has approximately 10,000 Danish companies as members.
