REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Ministry of Health confirmed that Indonesia is not included in the 46 countries experiencing extraordinary situation (KLB) of zika virus.

"Indonesia does not include 14 countries with zika virus transmission," ministry's director general for disease control and environmental health (P2PL), Muhammad Subuh said in a press statement received Republika.co.id, on Tuesday (21/6).

This confirmation is in accordance with data from world health organization (WHO) about zika virus transmission in the world. In a release on June 15 2016, WHO said as much as 60 countries reported transmission of mosquito vectors.

A total of 46 countries experienced first outbreak of zika virus case since 2015 while 14 countries have reported evidence of transmission of zika virus between 2007 and 2014 with sustained transmission. Besides there are also mentioned that four countries or regions reported evidence of zika virus transmission without sustained transmission, namely Islands Islands, French Polynesia, Chile and YAP (Federated States of Micronesia).

During the second week until June 15, 2016, thre are no new report from countries about zika virus transmission from the mosquito vectors or transmission of the (sexual). Zika virus was first discovered in the saliva of monkeys in Uganda through the monitoring of yellow fever (Yellow Fever) in 1947. Zika virus first time infect to humans in Uganda and the United Republic of Tanzania in 1952.
