Residents asked to participate in nightclubs monitoring

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, KENDARI -- The Kendari city administration, Southeast Sulawesi, has invited local residents to participate in monitoring the closure of nightclubs during Ramadan.

"It will be great if we jointly participate in supervising the activities of nightclubs, so government can act immediately if the entertainment venues keep opened," the Kendari Mayor Asrun said in Kendari, Monday (7/6).

He said public can also report to the government officers like Satpol PP (Public Order Agency) if nightclubs still open during Ramadan.

"We have issued an appeal in notification letter to managers of nightclubs to end activities during Ramadan," he said.

He added, to anticipate disobidience of nightclubs owners, his agency has set up judicial team coordinated by Satpol PP.

"The government through the Satpol PP will conduct monitoring and controlling [them] during Ramadan. And of course, also the involvement of citizens to oversight it," he said.

He stressed, the offenders can be given sanction by revoking their business licenses.
