Idul Fitri homecoming, YLKI appreciates govt effort to minimize accidents

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Indonesian Consumers Foundation (YLKI) has appreciated some anticipatory steps prepared by the government to minimize accidents during next homecoming event in Idul Fitri 2016.

"The government is also make free homecoming program. This is one of effort to minimize accidents, especially with motorbikes," said YLKI Secretary Agus Suyanto told Republika.co.id on Monday (6/6).

Nevertheless, YLKI keep reminded of emergency of homecoming because numbers of accidents that make dead victims are still happen, although the numbers reduced.

Based on data of Police at Idul Fitri in 2015, during a week before Idul Fitri and a week after Idul Fitri, the accidents kill 628 people, followed by 1.028 people severely injured, and minor injuries as much as 3.808 people.

"Indeed, the number is dropped compared to 2014, but in transportation, the orientation is zero accident," he added.

Previously, the Ministry of Transport expected the free homecoming program can be used by the travelers. It also related with the target of zero accident for public transport launched by the government.

Government has also set up number of fleets via land, naval, air, until the train.
