Minister says fight against narcotics a holy war

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG -- Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Imam Nahrawi said the war against of narcotics promoted by the younger generation is part of holy war (jihad).

"Jihad in here certainly gets reward, this is supposing of preaching. So this is right situation called the war against drugs," said Iman Nahrawi, after inaugurated the youth cadres of Anti-Drug West Java, Bandung, Friday (3/6).

He confirmed that Indonesia is currently under threat of severe narcotic problemss, even has entered into the institutions. So, it needed role of the various parties, including the youth to combat drugs and making narcotics as common enemy.

"And I thank you because you join to jihad against drugs. Let's do jihad to keep Indonesia away from the danger of narcotics," he said.

The ministry of youth and sports (kemenpora), he continued, also hoped that local governments could make support programs for the youth cadres of the anti-drugs to combat narcotics in Indonesia.

"So we need the role of youth with all parties, especially law enforcement officials such as police and National Narcotics Agency (BNN), committed fight against all forms of drugs crime," he said.

He targeted the future as much as 30 thousands of anti-drug youth cadres can be formed and combat the danger of drugs.

''Jabar is the first. Then I am going to East Java." he said.
