Khofifah: Rp 63 trillion spent to buy narcotics

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MOJOKERTO -- Chairman of the Central Board of Muslimat Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Khofifah Indar Parawansa warned of the dangers of drugs to a group of Muslimat NU in Mojokerto, East Java. She explained drugs abuse caused the death of 40-50 people per day nationally.

"Amount Rp 63 trillion of public money in 2015 used to buy narcotics," she said while attending the commemoration of Isra Mi'raj and  Harlah of Women NU and the signing of the Declaration of anti-drugs force (LAN) at the Pendopo Trowulan, Mojokerto district, on Sunday (15/5).

She argues, the dangers of drugs in Indonesia recently are quite alarming. With declarations Anti-Drug Army is expected to remind the public about the dangers of drugs.

"LAN will work to continue to socialize about the dangers of drugs to the branch level or in villages," she said.

Khofifah who also as social Minister also said that from the level of the branch or village or prepared 3-5 paramilitary members to addressing message to society.

"Do not get affected by this drug, so the task of LAN is giving lectures. Actually, it is already done on March 26, 2016 in Malang Gajahyana Stadium that attended by President Indonesia Joko Widodo. Then, the declaration was followed by the all of region branches leaders," she said.

In the next phase will be implemented in Jombang, East Java, inauguration of LAN is expected to help informing citizens on the dangers of drugs.

"Because the purpose forming of the LAN as alertness and anticipation of the expansion of drug abuse," she said.
