Flood in South Kalimantan kills three people

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) said three people died caused by flood disaster that hit Kotabaru District, South Kalimantan (Kalsel) on Tuesday (10/5).

Head of Data Information and Public Relation BNPB, Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said floods in Kotabaru on Monday at 03.00 am hit two villages. There are village of Batugah and Sengayam in the West Pamukan, Kotabaru, South Kalimantan.

"Three people passed away and one person has not been found," he said in a statement on Thursday (12/5).

That disaster makes at least 151 houses were slightly damaged, 14 units were severely damaged, and 251 households or 907 inhabitants affected by the floods. And one the bridge can not be passed because of crack.

Flash flood in Kotabaru, on Monday caused by heavy rain for two days.

Currently the quick response team of the regional disaster management agency (BPBD) Kotabaru, along with Kodim 1004 KTB, Police of Kotabaru, has been deployed to search the missing victims. BPBD of Kotabaru also doing rapid assessment, giving logistical aid including instant noodles, beverage, and food.
