REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Three state-owned companies operating in different types of transport service agree to cooperate in providing integrated transport service.
The cooperation between PT Garuda Indonesia, the nation's flag carrier, the railway company PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) and PT Angkasa Pura I is to help support development of the country's tourism sector.
The president directors of the three state companies, M Arif Wibowo of Garuda, Edi Sukmoro of KAI and Sulistyo Wimbo Hardjito of Angkasa Pura I signed a memorandum of understanding on the cooperation scheme here on Thursday.
The cooperation scheme would be implemented in four airports in Central and Eastern Indonesia including Juanda of Surabaya, Sultan Hasanuddin of Makassar, Kulonprogo of Yogyakarta, and Adi Soemarmo of Solo.
The cooperation scheme includes in passenger services, advertising and marketing , Arif said, adding in the future the cooperation would be expanded to involve other state companies.
Minister for State Enterprises Rini M Soemarno, who witnessed the signing ceremony, expressed appreciation for the cooperation reached between the three state companies.
Garuda Indonesia already had cooperation agreement with PT KAI in 2015 in Corporate Sales, under which PT KAI employees and their families would use Garuda Indonesia for air transport.
Garuda is to offer a special corporate fare for the employees of PT KAI and their family members.
