REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Palestinian Foreign Affairs Minister, Riad Al-Maliki, said the Israeli army in Palestine is still committing human rights violations every day, according to a press release from the Indonesian Embassy in Amman, Jordan, received by Antara here on Monday.
Minister Al Maliki stated before the commissioners of the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission - the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (IPHRC-OIC), who visited Palestine from April 6 - 10, 2016.
Al Maliki explained that Israel violations against Palestinians include depriving them of property rights and insult meted out to their holy places, belonging to both Muslims and Christians.
According to him, the crucial issue now is making sure that the OIC countries pay attention to the actions being undertaken by Israel to systematically turn the Holy City of Jerusalem into a Jewish town in order to obliterate Arab and Islamic identities.
The Israeli soldiers are also hampering and restricting the Palestinians' movement to eventually evict them from the holy city, and ultimately strengthen the Jewish presence there.
In addition, the Israelis, under the protection of the Israeli authorities, continue to demolish the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Foreign Minister Maliki also gave an account of the crimes committed by the Israeli authorities in the Gaza Strip.
The OIC human rights commission consists of five commissioners from Sudan, Burkina Faso, Turkey, Morocco and Indonesia.
Their visit to Palestine was aimed at witnessing firsthand the developments in the security situation, as well as observing issues related to human rights, women and child rights, development rights and issues regarding Islamophobia.
The delegation saw the tragic situation of the Palestinian people due to the ongoing Israeli occupation.
Foreign Minister Al Maliki said the Palestinians are now entering the next stage in international political negotiation, including filing a case in the International Criminal Court (ICC).
Al-Maliki praised the efforts undertaken by the Secretary General of the OIC, Iyad Madani, in support of the Palestinians' struggle and opening of the OIC representative office in Palestine.
