MPR urges Madinah University alumni to contribute in various sectors

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Deputy Speaker of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Hidayat Nur Wahid on Saturday attended the National Gathering (Silatnas) Madinah Islamic University Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Indonesia. The event, held at the Hall of Jakarta was attended by about 200 alumni of traffic generation and the various faculties from various regions in Indonesia.

Reunion alumni gathering Islamic University of Madinah also scheduled a panel discussion and the election and inauguration of the board. Hidayat Nur Wahid become speaker besides former Minister of Religious Affairs Maftuh Basyuni.

Hidayat explained about the various problems of the nation today. This problem can not be underestimated. In the subsequent discussion, the MUI declared Indonesia moral emergency, Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Minister declared Indonesia child protection emergency, BNN said Indonesia emergency drugs. Not to mention LGBT issues, and terrorism.

In terms of LGBT, Hidayat said have talked to the President that the issue is not simple. But the LGBT danger is very noticeably affecting youth. Thus it should be issued some kind of regulation or decree about the dangers of LGBT.

"About the dangers of drugs, we in the House will revise the Drug Act. When it comes to terrorism, this is very surprising there is a feeling of public fear of terrorism that is directed to one group one of them graduates of the kingdom," he said.

For alumni of Arabia, stressed Hidayat, Indonesia is currently in a state of open post-reformation. Many alumni of Medina Saudi role and contribute in various sectors of life, including in the government.

"Nature this reform has opened the opportunity for anyone, including the alumni Arabia to contribute to and participate actively in the political arena both in the party and parliament, as well as regional leaders," he said.
