REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Publicly traded consumer goods company PT Unilever Indonesia Tbk reported 5.7 percent increase in sales year-on-year to Rp36.5 trillion in 2015.
"The growth in sales was only a single digit in 2015 as the country's economic condition was not yet conducive," Sancoyo Antarikso, director of governance and corporate affairs of UNVR said in a statement here on Thursday.
Sancoyo said the country's gross domestic products grew only 4.8 percent in 2015 or down from the previous year, indicating that the public consumption decline in 2015.
"However, amid the economic slowdown, the company still managed to chalk up an increase of 6.6 percent in sales in 2015," he said.
The company also still recorded a handsome net profit of Rp5.85 trillion in 2015 maintaining its position as the market leader in almost all categories, he added.
In 2015, the company continued to be focused on execution and efficiency in all operational lines resulting in an increase in "gross margin" and increase in net profit, he said.
He said the condition in 2015 did not change the company's commitment in investment to maintain its market leadership.
"One of its main initiatives executed in 2015 was the operation of a new factory producing food spices in Cikarang, inaugurated by the industry minister in August 2015," he said.
