REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SEMARANG -- The provincial government of Central Java will relocate to safer places hundreds of victims impacted by the landslide in Clapar Village of Banjarnegara District.

"We hope the Geological Disaster Mitigation and Volcanology Center will immediately issue a recommendation to relocate the people. Once that happens, the government can carry out the exercise," the Executive Head of Central Java Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency, Sarwa Pramana, said here on Monday.

The agency should select a place to relocate people appropriately as 18 sub-districts in Banjarnegara are prone to landslides.

The places thus selected should be verified by the Geological Disaster Mitigation and Volcanology Center and the Energy and Natural Resources Service.

The local administration will relocate 64 families comprising 230 people to a safer place.

"Each householder will receive Rp20 million in cash from the national disaster agency and Rp15 million from the Central Java Provincial Government," Pramana added.

The Banjarnegara District administration will provide funds for relocation and infrastructure construction. These will be derived from Local Budget.

According to Pramana, the regional disaster agency noted five ground movements since 27 March in Banjarnegara. The agency said the people living in the area are endangered due to these incidents.

Pramana hoped the local administration can release emergency period status for 14 days following the landslide.

Last Friday, a landslide and soil movement had prompted hundreds of people in Clapar Village of Madukara Sub-district to evacuate to safer places.
