REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Psychiatric expert Universitas Indonesia Professor Dr dr Dadang Hawari affirm Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) behavior is mental illness. Dadang said the information that support LGBT behavior is false information.
"The information has to suit our country term, LGBT not allowed," Dadang said on Wednesday.
Dadang statement related to Chairman of Religious, Spirituality, and Psychiatry of the Indonesian Psychiatrists Association (PDSKJI) Fidiansjah explanation that labeled LGBT behavior still categorize as mental illness. Because of the statement in a discussion held by private television, Fidiansjah was warned (somasi) by Jakarta Legal Aid Institute (LBH).
The warning has sent by LBH because Fidiansjah considered not providing correct information to public.
"Correct information is information provide by dr Fidiansjah. While, information that said LGBT is right is not right," Dadang said.
Dadang also open opportunities for LGBT practitioners to heal their mental illness. If compared to China, Russia, Singapore, and Malaysia, Dadang continued, LGBT practitioners even directly get criminal sanctions and considered violate the law.
