REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, KEBUMEN -- Cooperatives and Small and Medium-Scale Enterprises (SMEs) Minister, Anak Agung Gede Ngurah Puspayoga said the government has set itself a target of distributing Rp100 trillion through the People's Microloan Scheme Credit (KUR) in 2016.

"But the distribution of KUR credits this year could exceed the Rp100 trillion and reach Rp120 trillion," the minister said after opening a flagship product exhibition here on Thursday.

The minister has earlier organized campaigns on the acceleration of the KUR credit extension in Kebumen District.

He said the number of KUR credits that had been distributed up to March 22 had reached Rp24 trillion. This meant that the target to extend Rp9 trillion of KUR credits among small businesses every month had even been exceeded.

The minister said the extension of KUR credits should be accelerated in order to achieve the target. "Acceleration of credits channeling is needed so that the target is achieved. So far, the credit extension has been running well," he said. Anak encouraged cooperatives to take part in distributing KUR credits.

"There are cooperatives in East Java and in Pekalongan (Central Java), which respectively have a turnover of Rp16 trillion and Rp5 trillion. We encourage them to become KUR providers," the minister said.

He said that cooperatives can also tie up with Bank BRI, Bank BNI, Bank Mandiri and others to channel KUR credits.

"Cooperatives are able to do that so that we encourage them to become KUR distributors," Anak said.
