REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Russian Embassy in Indonesia has not ascertained whether any Indonesian was aboard Dubai's Flydubai airlines which crashed in the Russian port city Rostov-on-Don on midnight Saturday.
"According to official information from the Russian government, there is no such information (about Indonesian citizens being victims). I will inform you if there is any further information," Press Attache of the Russian Embassy, Nikolay Karapetyan, said in a message received by Antara Saturday.
As reported by the Russian Emergencies Ministry to RIA Novosti media, the FlyDubai Boeing-737-800 en route from Dubai to Russia's Rostov-on-Don crashed at the city's airport after missing the runway amid poor visibility.
A total of 61 people, including 55 passengers and six crew members, were killed in the crash.
Meanwhile, Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi is coordinating with the Indonesian Consulate in Dubai and the Indonesian Embassy in Moscow to confirm the news.
"Our teams in Dubai and Moscow are seeking further information," she said through a short message. Rostov-on-Don has many universities and some Indonesian students are studying there, according to Retno.
