Bogor's Katulampa Dam at level one alert

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Heavy rains occured in upstream of Puncak area of Ciliwung River has caused water levels to rise quickly.

Based on the observation of Jakarta Disaster Mitigation Agency (Pusdalops BPBD), the water level in the Katulampa dam measured 200 cm on Monday (7/3) at 22:00 am or equal to level one alert or high early warning of flooding in Jakarta.

At 22:20 pm Ciliwung River water level reached 250 cm (Alert 1), while the condition is still in heavy rain.

An estimated 9-11 hours ahead, settlements in areas in Ciliwung riverbank will be potentially flooded, according to press release of National  Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPNP) spokesman Sutopo Purwo Nugroho.

Anticipation area in Jakarta's Ciliwung River for flood potential included, Srengseng Sawah, East Pejaten, Rawajati, Kalibata, Pengadegan, Cawang, Kebon Baru, Bukit Duri, Bidara China and Kampung Melayu

"Although there will be no major flooding as rivers were still in safe condition. However, caution must be taken," he said.
