Indonesian gummy candy records sales worth US$2.7 million in Dubai

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesian gummy candy produced by PT Yupi Indo Jelly Gum recorded the largest sales at the Gulfood exhibition in the World Trade Centre, Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UEA), with transactions worth US$2.7 million.

"During the five-day exhibition, which took place on February 21-25, Indonesian gummy candy dominated the transactions, with a purchase contract worth US$2.7 million of the total transaction amount of US$3.33 million," Head of the Indonesian Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) Dubai Gusmalinda Sari noted in a written statement received by Antara on Wednesday.

Sari pointed out that during the exhibition, sales were registered by several Indonesian companies such as PT Kapal Api Global with transactions worth US$100 thousand, PT Bahtera Wiraniaga (US$80 thousand), PT Mulia Boga Raya (US$200 thousand), PT Bina Karya Prima (US$60 thousand), and PT Monde Mahkota Biskuit (US$90 thousand).

The booths of Indonesian companies were visited by some 1.5 thousand potential visitors from the UEA, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, Iraq, Iran, Egypt, India, China, Algeria, Kenya, Palestine, Lebanon, and Pakistan.

A total of 25 Indonesian companies independently participated in the Gulfood exhibition, Dubai's biggest annual exhibition for food and beverage from across the world.

Gulfood 2016, officially opened by UEA Financial Minister Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, was attended by more than five thousand participants from 114 countries who showcased 2,626 brands.
