REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Chief of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Franky Sibarani will use his visit to San Francisco to promote three-hour investment services to US investors.
Only one US investor has so far taken advantage of the quick investment services to invest US$380 million in an Indonesian project that will employ some 1,200 workers.
"Right now, only one US investor has used the three-hour investment service, while eight Chinese investors have used it. We hope that more and more investors from the US and other countries will take advantage of it in the future," he said in a written statement released on Tuesday.
Sibarani expressed his hope that many US investors will take advantage of the service this year, as the US investment commitments in Indonesia reached US$4.8 billion in 2015.
The US has a great potential to invest abroad, as reflected by the outward investment flows from the country, he said.
According to data from the FDI market from 2010 to September 2015, US investments reached US$694 billion worldwide.
Indonesia ranks 25th as a destination for US investments, with a value of US$7.1 billion, or 1.03 percent of overall US investments.
Sibarani said the BKPM will continue improving the three-hour investment services.
Data from the BLPM show US investments in Indonesia reached US$893.2 million in 261 projects last year.
Overall, US investments in Indonesia totaled nearly US$8.2 billion from 2010 to 2015.
