REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, LOS ANGELES -- Local authorities were searching on the sea near the San Pedro Harbor in the Great Los Angeles area Friday afternoon after a mid-air collision of two small planes.
A plane was reported down about 3:14 p.m. local time (2314 GMT) in the area, local media said. The crew of a fishing boat reported the plane hitting the water.
The U.S. Coast Guard and Federal Aviation Administration confirmed the mid-air collision later.
Boats, helicopters and divers are involved in the searching. Entrance to Los Angeles Harbor has been closed to all vessels.
Casualty of the collision is still unknown.
