REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Psychologist from the State Islamic University (UIN) Syarif Hidayatullah, Dr. Diana Muthi MSI, asked Ministry of Culture and Elementary and Secondary Education to investigate comprehensively about the motive of publishing a book that contains the charge of radicalism.
"In the context of Indonesia situation like this, words such as "slaughter" or "bazooka" is not necessary because our country isn't in a state of war. So, it doesn't need to put in the kindergarten books," Diana said on Monday (25/1).
Diana statement was related to the discovery of textbooks for children in kindergarten that having charge of radicalism in Depok, West Java.
"Children in an early age are very effective to give the seeds of radicalism. Because in that age, child's development is very rapid, in the other words that is the golden period of their life," Diana explained.
According to her, it is appropriate if Ministry of Culture and Elementary and Secondary Education wasn't only banned those kind of books. But, they must to conduct an investigation, to all teaching materials in the schools.
"Ministry of Culture and Elementary and Secondary Education should take the initiative to investigate the teaching materials in schools and how the patterns of teaching," she added.
