REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PEKANBARU -- Riau Province's imports in November 2015 stood at US$98.33 million, down 3.84 percent compared to US$102.25 million recorded in the previous month, according to the local statistics office.
"The decline in imports was mainly due to the drop in oil and gas imports by 10.06 percent, although Riau's oil and gas imports in volume rose by 16.28 percent," Head of the Riau office of the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) Mawardi Arsad stated here on Monday.
Arsad pointed out that during the January-November 2015 period, the value of Riau's imports was worth US$1.2 billion, down 18.13 percent from US$1.55 billion recorded in the same period last year.
According to the BPS official, Riau's imports of oil and gas dropped 6.60 percent, while its non-oil and gas imports decreased by 20.47 percent.
