Public accountants to take part in auditing financial reports

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) said it has to involve public accountants in auditing the financial reports of nine ministries and other government agencies and 26 regional administrations this year.

The accountants from the Public Accountant Office (KAP) are involved as BPK is short of auditors, deputy chairman of the agency Sapto Amal Damanduri said.

Tenders have been held for 35 packages of jobs and a number of winners of the tenders have been announced, Sapto said here ion Thursday.

Based on the Law No. 15/2004, BPK is allowed to involve public accountants, but they work on behalf of BPK.

The 26 regional administrations include Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, South Sumatra, Bengkulu, Lampung, West Java, Central Java, Yogyakarta, East Java , West Nusa Tenggara, East Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, West Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, and Southeast Sulawesi.

Data from BPK said that there are four KAPs winning the tender to audit the nine ministries and government agencies.

BPK has yet to study the documents of other KAPs taking part in the tender to audit the financial report of the ministries and agencies.

Similarly, BPK has yet to study the documents of KAPs to take part in the tender to audit the financial report of the 26 regional administrations.
