Three Indonesians killed in Malaysian bus accident

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, KUALA LUMPUR -- Three Indonesians were killed and tens of others injured when the bus in which they were traveling slid into a ditch and overturned in the Malaysian state of Selangor on Saturday.

The bus which carried 40 Indonesians met the accident while on its way from Kuala Lumpur arts market to Datoh Perak port, according to the Indonesian embassy in Kuala Lumpur.

One of the three bodies, identified as Burhanudin bin Yahya, was flown to Medan, capital of North Sumatra province, on Sunday morning.

The Kuala Selangor police is still looking into the cause of deadly accident in Assam Jawa area in Selangor.

Tens of the injured were rushed to Sungai Buloh and Tanjung Karang hospitals in Selangor for medical treatment. By Sunday, most of them were discharged because they only sustained minor injuries. Four of them are still receiving impatient treatment at Sungai Buloh hospital for serious injuries.

Indonesian Ambassador to Malaysia Herman Prayitno visited the victims at the hospitals to give them moral support. He said the embassy is ready to bear their medical expenses.

The task force team of the Indonesian embassy is coordinating with the local authorities to investigate parties held responsible for the accident.
