REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Head of National Nuclear Energy Agency (BATAN) Djarot Sulistio Wisnubroto stated, establishment of nuclear power plant in Indonesia was still debatable. People were still wondering the positive and negative impact of the power plant.

Through a poll conducted by Sigma Research towards 4,000 correspondents in 2015, Indonesian people were still worried about leaks or accidents in operation of nuclear power plants and also worried of environmental impact. While the greatest positive impact expected was availability of electricity in large quantities.

In addition, the nuclear power plant with large power supply allowed regions outside Java get a power supply that is equivalent, in terms of both cost and availability.

"People want a stable and cheap electricity, so nuclear is quite feasible to be run by the government," said Djarot in Jakarta recently.

On the other hand, in a poll, President should be the first who give information about nuclear power plants. Then the people would have more confidence in benefits or impacts to be faced with construction of nuclear power plants.
