173 churches in C Java to receive security cover

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SEMARANG -- Of all the 2,888 churches in the Indonesian province of Central Java, 173 will be granted security cover ahead of Christmas 2015, according to Central Java Police spokesman Brigadier Genderal Musyafak.

"Some 173 churches will receive security cover during the Christmas 2015 celebrations," Musyafak remarked here on Wednesday.

He noted that security measures will be concentrated around churches during Christmas celebrations and at crowded centers and tourist spots on New Year's Eve.

He further added that during the period between December 24, 2015, and January 2, 2016, a total of 8,685 police personnel will be deployed in Central Java to ensure security.
