W Java ranked among best regional governments

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG -- The national team for evaluating the performance of regional governments (EPPD) has announced that West Java province is among the six major regions having the best regional governments.

"We conducted a survey of the regional government reports (LPPD) in 2014. The survey has now revealed that East Kalimantan, Yogyakarta, and Central and East Java rank among the top six," Head of EPPD Gensly stated here, Monday.

According to Gensly, the general criteria included the formulation and implementation of policies, and the number of assessment indicators reached 780.

"So, the Satyalencana will be awarded to the local governments delivering the best performance," Gensly pointed out.

Meanwhile, West Java Governor Ahmad Heryawan said his government had explained to the EPPD team about the successful innovations in various sectors, including agriculture, plantation, education, and infrastructure.

Heryawan remarked that West Java was optimistic of clearing the selection process to be among the top three best performing local governments.

"We are optimistic of being in the top three," Heryawan emphasized.

Moreover, Head of West Java's Regional Autonomy and Cooperation Bureau Taufik B.S. explained that policies, implementation, and control were the three groups assessed by the national team for the EPPD.

"Besides assessing the performance of regional governments, these teams also evaluated the performance of districts, the points for which will be added to the aggregate assessment score," Taufik stated.
