REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PONTIANAK -- A total of 259 Indonesian workers were deported by Malaysia through Cross Border Inspection Post Entikong, Sanggau, West Kalimantan. It was according to data of Department of Social, Labor and Transmigration Sanggau and BNP2TKI.
"The number of migrant workers who were deported is quite a lot," said Chief of Department of Social, Labor and Transmigration Sanggau, Jamilah, Wednesday (9/12).
She explained, after collecting the data, hundreds of the migrant workers would be repatriated to their regions. She also has coordinated with West Kalimantan Provincial Social Service, related to the repatriation.
"Hundreds of workers deported mostly came from Singkawang and East Nusa Tenggara," she added.
According to him, Cross Border Inspection Post Entikong is one of border crossings which is connecting Indonesia with Malaysia. It became one of entrances for migrant workers both official and unofficial.
