REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, WALTHAM --The Dr. Soetomo Academic Medical Center Hospital (RSUD Dr. Soetomo) in Surabaya has expanded access to UpToDate to ensure that clinicians throughout the hospital can use the acclaimed resource for clinical decision-making.

"The hospital-wide subscription plays an essential role in the hospital's efforts to secure the Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation," the Health division of Wolters Kluwer, a leading global provider of information and point-of-care solutions for the healthcare industry, announced on Tuesday.

Located in the province of East Java, the RSUD Dr. Soetomo is the largest hospital in eastern Indonesia.

As one of the central tertiary referral hospitals in Indonesia, the RSUD Dr. Soetomo is an expansive healthcare institution, with over 1.5 thousand beds and 26 departments.

On average, the hospital cares for over a half million outpatients, over 40 thousand inpatients, and about 75 thousand emergency department patients.

Several doctors at the hospital were familiar with UpToDate and recommended it as an essential resource to assist in making the best treatment decisions for their patients.

"UpToDate helps all our staff, including doctors, residents, pharmacists, and researchers to find the latest evidence in medicine and drug interactions, thereby making a big impact on patient safety," Deputy Director on Education and Training at RSUD Dr. Soetomo Dr. Anang Endaryanto explained.

UpToDate is playing an important role in developing clinical practice guidelines and pathways. It is also a key resource in completing the JCI accreditation documents for our hospital, he added.
