REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Minister Yuddy Chrisnandi has again reminded civil servants to remain neutral in the simultaneous regional head elections on December 9, 2015.

The minister affirmed that action will be taken against civil servants found to have violated neutrality in the simultaneous elections of regional heads on Wednesday.

"Moderate to severe sanctions will be imposed for noncompliance," Chrisnandi emphasized here on Tuesday.

He stressed that the neutrality guidelines for State Civil Apparatus (ASN) are outlined in Law No. 5 of 2014 on the ASN and Law on Local Government that have been familiarized since a year ago.

In addition, Chrisnandi remarked that his ministry had released a circular on the neutrality of civil servants, and a memorandum of understanding to this end had been signed by the Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reforms, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the National Civil Service Agency, the Commission of State Civil Apparatus, and Election Supervisory Board.

"The government has also formed the ASN Neutrality Taskforce, which has been confirmed by the vice president," he noted.

With various regulations in place, the minister expressed optimism that civil servants would remain neutral in the nationwide simultaneous regional head elections on Wednesday.

"Leave out the ego that could hamper development. On December 9, ensure that the ASN are taking a neutral stance. Whoever wins, bureaucracy must run continuously and work for the people's welfare," Chrisnandi said, calling on the community and government to unite and cooperate.
