Sweden ready to supply technology of fighter jets to Indonesia

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Assessment and Application of Technology Agency (BPPT) has established a cooperation a defense and security company of Sweden, Saab, in August. Deputy head of Saab Indonesia, Lars Nielsen, said Sweden was ready to supply technology advanced of fighter jets to Indonesia.

"I just want to say that Saab Sweden is ready to deliver technology to Indonesia," said Nielson to Republika.co.id at BPPT Building II, Jakarta, Monday (7/12).

However, related to readiness of Indonesia to accept a wide range of technology of fighter jets from Sweden, Nielsen hoped the country could get a better future through the technology given.

Deputy Chief Technology Industrial Design and Engineering of BPPT, Erzi Agson Gani, said Sweden was a very good partner for Indonesia in the fields of industry. Cooperation with Sweden was fully supported by the government.

"Sweden is not a member of North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), so they are free and the development of innovation is growing very rapidly," he said.

According to him, with new laws that have been set by the government, technology in Indonesia could be developed and be more advanced.
