REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesia expresses concern over the United States attack in Venezuela. Indonesia warned that the US move risks setting a very bad and dangerous precedent in international relations.
In a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia via social media X, monitored on Monday, it was said that the Indonesian government continues to closely monitor the developments taking place in Venezuela.
“Indonesia expresses its deep concern over any action involving the use or threat of force that risks creating a dangerous precedent in international relations,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
The move, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, also risks disrupting the stability and peace of the region, as well as weakening the principles of sovereignty and diplomacy.
Indonesia insists that the international community must respect the rights and will of the Venezuelan people in exercising their sovereignty and determine for themselves the direction and future of their nation's journey.
Then, like the previous statement delivered on Saturday (3/1), the Indonesian Ministry said that Indonesia calls on all parties to promote dialogue and restraint, and to comply with international law such as the United Nations Charter and international humanitarian law.
Indonesia also reminds that the protection of civilians always comes first amid the escalation of the situation in the South American country.
