REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Financial Services Authority (FSA) planned to help Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the search for funding. One of them by encouraging SMEs to enter the capital market.

"It could be more than one alternative, IPO, bonds, or venture capital partner," said Chief Executive of Capital Market Supervisory of OJK, Nurhaida, in Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI), Friday (4/12).

Currently, she was conducting in-depth studies about the plan. To seek funding through the capital market, there are several requirements that must be fulfill by SMEs. If it would be through IPO, the SMEs should be a limited company (PT). The requirements related to the share issuance.

"For the other forms, the SMEs can first enter the preparation board then it will assist by venture capital, but it has to change to be PT," she explained.

Nurhaida said, OJK was still reviewing whether the stock transactions of SMEs will be attractive to the market. To carry out this plan, OJK was also asking for input from the market.

"To compete with the others, we need to create a market maker. We make the rules again," Nurhaida added.

Market maker was considered essential in order to maintain the liquidity of the stock transactions of SMEs. If the SMEs entered the capital markets but no one was interested on these shares, the market will not move.
