Garuda Indonesia wins two international awards

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk won two international awards at once in the first week of December 2015. Garuda awarded as the Most Outstanding Islamic Finance Product for global sharia bond issuance by Kuala Lumpur Islamic Financial Forum (KLIFF).

While another award was for Best Investor Relations Company from Investor Relations Magazine Awards South East Asia in Singapore.

Director of Finance and Risk Management of Garuda Indonesia, I Gusti Askhara Danadiputra, said the awards became an important step for the company in the midst of global economic conditions. It was also part of efforts undertaken to maintain the company's financial performance.

This achievement also encouraged company to continue to innovate in application of financial mitigation strategies that support development of investment company.

Most Outstanding Issuance Award was given for the success of Garuda Indonesia to issue global sharia bond worth 500 million US dollars.

"This publication was successfully implemented based on sharia," said Askhara, through a press release, Friday (4/12)..

Global sharia bond issuance was an issuance of US dollar-denominated which was first ever held by an airline corporation in Asia Pacific region. It was also expected to become a benchmark for other global companies to implement global sharia  bond issuance.
