25 Chinese arrested in North Jakarta

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SEMANGGI -- 25 foreigners from China was arrested by Subdit Jatanras Ditkrimum Jakarta Police in shop area of block B number 17 Mangga Dua Square, North Jakarta. They were suspected to commit deception and extortion over their fellow citizens of China.

"It was public reports. They reported that there were always foreigners here," said Head III of Jatanras Ditkrimum Jakarta Police, Commissioner Dhany Aryanda, Friday (27/11).

Dhany explained, the 25 suspects were consisted of 18 men and seven women. They have been operating since three months ago. They would be handed over to the immigration office in North Jakarta for data collection and deportation.

"We are working with immigration. They were known to come gradually to Indonesia," he added.

In the arrest, the police officers seized phones as communication tool to deceive. While other evidences were modem, laptop, passport, and printers.
